Just saw the news today. Another scam related to a fake Facebook friend. He introduced himself as John Hammer, a businessman from UK in the friend request he sent to a 42-year old woman. He told her that he is visiting India for a business trip. On March 22 the woman received a phone call from a person claiming to be from the customs office at Delhi Airport who demanded that she pay up to release the UK national who was found to be carrying currency that he did not declare. The woman deposited the money and that was it. Gone! She lodged a complaint and the police checked ATM CCTV recording from which the money was withdrawn after the deposit was made. The criminals were identified and the BKC cyber police have arrested them and taking them to Mumbai. They will be produced in court.
