The ongoing rampant mobile tower fraud has not stopped yet. This time fraudsters are cheating people in the name of 4G. This is how the scam works -
The fraudsters will give an ad in a leading newspaper like Times of India or The Hindu for an opportunity to install mobile tower on your property. They will claim that they are partnered with all major Telecom players and are also recognized by Department of Telecom and TRAI, International Standard Certified Organisation etc. The ad will look something like this -
"Call 078X88XX52X for Aircel/MTS company mobile tower installation on residential site monthly rent is 45,000 and get advance 30 lacs and job for one person with salary 15000"
When contacted they will tell you to deposit 6,200/- towards Areal and satellite survey for your site's eligibility. They will also give you the bank details. In case you deposit the money, your site will pass all the tests and they will ask for more money like 31,000 for the tower installation and inform you that you will receive 10 lakh or something within 2 days after installation. They may also ask for more money for stamp duties and other reasons they can think of. As long as you keep paying they will keep on asking for more. If you refuse to pay at any point the contract will be cancelled and your already paid money will not be refunded. After they have successfully cheated you, their phones and websites will not work and all your money would be gone!
They will take money from in the form of Tax, stamp duty and what not. They will claim that they have worked with top companies of the world. they will claim that they have been authorized by all the government agencies. They will show you offers which you can't ignore. But it is all fake.
This scam is ongoing for the last 3-4 years since our nation's mobile technology is developing rapidly. Some fraudsters have been caught by the police but there are always new scammers who are still trying this method and not afraid of the police. So please watch out.
