Free/Public Wi-Fi at restaurants, cafes, airports and hotels can be un-secure. Don't do any activity which requires you to fill your personal details like bank account id/password on such networks. If possible use your smart phone to create your own Wi-Fi spot or carry a Tata Photon or something.
