A man from Mumbai created an account on a matrimonial site and he began to chat with women on the site. One such chat got intimate and the woman suggested they exchange nude pictures of each other. He sent his pictures and what followed was a nightmare as the woman began making monetary demands to not leak his pictures to his acquaintances. As per cyber security experts, online dating scams are on the rise in India. For creating a fake profile on a matrimonial site, all one needs is an email address and a phone number. We should verify the authenticity of the other party on internet before sharing personal details of our lives. The internet is a scary place.

Online dating scams are skyrocketing in our country especially on matrimony sites like bharatmatrimony, jeevansaathi and shaadi.com. We fall easily to such scams, maybe because we trust people easily or maybe because we really want to find the lucky one.
